ABOUT US

Hampshire House Publishing Co. was begun in 1994 by a science writer and an illustrator just for the purpose of publishing this series of state-by-state natural history guides.

Stan Freeman’s articles have appeared in more than two dozen newspapers in his nearly 25-year career. He is the staff science writer for the Springfield (Mass.) Republican. He has won awards for both science and environmental writing, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s award for environmental reporting in New England and the “Audubon A” award from the Massachusetts Audubon Society. He is a graduate of Cornell University and a native of New York.

Mike Nasuti was the art director for the Springfield Republican where he began as a staff illustrator in 1985. He and his small team of artists and designers won numerous awards in illustration and page presentation. In 1995, Mike won a first place in illustration from the New England chapter of the Associated Press. He is a graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art and a native of Massachusetts.
